The Fedi Forum is a companion to The Fedi Wiki. Both offer you resources to understand the Fediverse and its software.
Where as the Wiki is designed to offer user guides and help notes, the forum is a place to ask questions and respond to other people’s queries, to provide community support.
In order to use the Fedi Form you have a number of options.
For the best experience, you can register as a user on the Forum (https://thefedi.forum) and gain all the flexibility and control of your posts and replies.
Alternatively it is possible to interact with the forum directly using your own Fediverse account. You will be able to:
Each Category in the forum has an equivalent Fediverse address. Some of these are listed at the end of this article. Always check the forum itself for the complete list. When in the forum, click on any category (example: Mastodon) and you will see the “Forum Fediverse address” near the top of the page. They all follow the format @<category>@thefedi.forum Again, as an example @mastodon@thefedi.forum
Create a new post in your own Fediverse account and mention the Forum Fediverse Address as if you were mentioning any user in a post. When you post, all your followers will see the post as normal, but a topic (post) will also be created in the Fedi Forum. Users in the Forum can see and respond. You will receive these responses in your own Fediverse account and it will be visible in the Forum.
Anyone on the Fediverse who replies to a post AND retains the mention of the forum in the reply will have the reply also posted in the forum.
If you are viewing topics directly in the Forum, and see a post you wish to reply to via the Fediverse:
Simple follow the Forum Fediverse address as you would any normal user on the Fediverse. Whenever anyone posts a topic to the category you are following on the forum you will see it in your own Timeline. Useful if you wish to keep up-to-date on what is happening on a specific category in the Forum.
