Attaching a File

Firefish allows you to attach various file types to your post. Typically this will be images, short videos, documents. Your individual server admin will have limts on the type of files and sizes accepted.

You can attach a maximum of 16 files to a post.

Click 1 to attach files.

Keep Original Image tbc

Upload: Use this option to locate a file on your own computer to be added to the post

From Drive: Find a file from your Firefish drive to include in the post

From URL: Copy the web URL (address) of an image located on the internet.

Once you have attached a file to the post, click on it for additional options:

Use the Rename file to change the name of the file used in the post. This does not change the name of the original file on your computer; only on this post.

Mark as NSFW sets the file as 'Not Safe for Work'. This is often used where someone may take offence at an image, or you wish the viewer to think before looking at the file. When it is marked as NSFW an image will be blurred. The viewer must then click to see the actual image.

Use Add Caption to add text description of the file content. This is an important feature, designed for visually impaired viewers. You are strongly encouraged to use this option for images to ensure the fediverse is an inclusive and supportive social service. Read more about AltText.

Clicking Remove attachment will delete the file from this post.
