Boost

Boosting a post is equivalent to Sharing it. Both terms are used interchangeably on the Fediverse.

When you boost, you are choosing to share the post with your own audience, out with that of the original poster's reach. It is a great way to share information, and also grow your and others reach. More people will see the content, and may therefore interact/follow you or the original poster.

To boost a post, click 1 at the bottom of a post you are reading. A small menu will appear:

The options are similar to post Visibility.

• Boost: Will share this post with everyone who follows you across the Fediverse, and the boosted Post will be Public for anyone to find.
  
  
• Unlisted: Places it on your Local timeline, but does not notify all your followers. Anyone can see that you have Boosted it, and it will be shown to anyone who looks on the Local timeline
  
  
• Followers: Share with all your followers, but not publicly. It is not Public.
  
  
• Local: Shared to your Local timeline only. Only people on your server will see it, by looking in the Local timeline. Your Followers will not be notified, and can not see it (unless they are on your server)
  
  

Info Depending on the Visibility of the original post, you may not be able to Boost it.
