Lists
Lists are a fantastic way to ensure you do not miss posts from certain people. Your timeline is an ever scrolling list of everyone you follow. Lists allow you to have smaller timelines showing a subset of posts, based on specific users.
For example, you have a group of four people you regularly meet up with, add them to a list and never miss any of their posts. Another example: There are a few accounts that post high-quality content about a subject you are passionate about; add them to a list.
Lists are unique to you. The members do not know they are in any of your lists.
A list shows the following for each of the people in your list:
- Their pubic Posts and those you are mentioned in
- Their Replies to any public/mentioned posts
- Any posted they have boosted
Top Tip Everyone should create at least one List. Call it “My Posts” or similar, and add yourself. It's a quick way to see all your own posts, replies, and boosts.
Creating Lists
The list icon may be on your navigation bar, or under more (…) on the navigation bar and then the Lists icon.
Click Create List and give your list a name – something descriptive. Example: Professional Astronomers
Click on the newly created list and Add a User. Enter the users full account name. As you type, suggestions will be offered. Use the tick when done.
Tip You do NOT need to be following the account to add it to your list. Another useful way of reading posts, without following someone.
Continue to add users, or leave the list with a single user.
Using a list
The Lists icon only allows you to modify the features of the list. In order to view a list, you must be on your Timeline.
At the top-right of the Timeline will be a smaller Lists icon. Click this, and select your List from the drop down.
Tip You can also edit your lists from within this dropdown by selecting Manage Lists
Modifying a list
Find your Lists icon, as per Creating Lists above.
Click on the list description.
- Add User: add addition users to the list
- Rename: change the description for your list
- Delete: remove your list. It does not delete the users posts, just the list.
- X: Use the X to the right of each user to remove them from this list.
There is no need to save any of these change, they happen as you make modifications.
Bug? When Creating a list, it will not initially appear on the Timeline dropdown. Do a browser page refresh. Similarly, when Deleting a list it will still appear on the Lists page. Refresh the page.
