When you boost a post it will be shared with everyone who follows you across the fediverse. The author of the post will also be notified that you have bosted it.

At the foot of each image post you will have a tool bar. Click the boost button (a circular double-arrow). It will change to a Yellow icon to indicate you have boosted. If you wish to remove your boost, now or later, click the boost icon again.
