GoToSocial differs from other fediverse servers in that it does NOT have a built-in user interface. The focus of the software is in providing a slick, efficient server for communication with other fediverse servers. Users are free to use a variety of compatible native or web-based apps.

GoToSocial typically allows posts of 5,000 characters of mark-down, plain text, emojis, Hashtags, and links to web sites. Admins can easily change the character limit to suit.

The server software is still considered to be in beta, but is very accomplished with few major issues.
